On August 15th, 2023, Inspector General of South Bengal Frontier, Ayush Mani Tiwari, IPS, was honored with the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPMDS) on the occasion of the 77th Independence Day. Shri Ayush Mani Tiwari, a 1997 batch IPS officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre, has been leading BSF South Bengal Frontier since March 14, 2023.
An alumnus of Allahabad University, Ayush Mani Tiwari holds an MBA from (IRMA) Anand, Gujarat, and a Masters in Police Management from Osmania University, Hyderabad. He has served as the Superintendent of Police in several communal and caste-sensitive districts of Tamil Nadu, including Tuticorin, Madurai, Tiruvallur, and Namakkal. His experience also extends to roles such as DCP in Chennai City, DIG of Coimbatore Range, and IGP of Armed Police in Tamil Nadu. During his central deputation to the Narcotics Control Bureau in 2007, he headed the Gujarat Bureau established on the border with Pakistan. His has also served as the DDG in the Bureau of Civil Aviation for three years. He has held significant positions such as IG, Rajasthan Frontier of BSF, and various roles at Force Headquarters, New Delhi. Notably, he was also honored with the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 2015.

It’s worth mentioning that on Independence Day 2023, 04 Border Security Force personnel were awarded the Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG), 05 personnel received the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PMDS), and 46 personnel were honored with the Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PMMS) in the Border Security Force.
