Empowering Rural Women through Skill Development: NSWS and NABARD’s Joint event.

 

On 19 August 2023 a remarkable step towards empowering rural women was witnessed with the successful completion of a one-day Refresher Training programme on Jute and Cation Bag Making under Livelihood and Enterprise Development Programme (LEDP). This initiative, orchestrated by the Nandini Social Welfare Society (NSWS) and supported by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), aimed at enhancing the skills and livelihood opportunities for 90 participants. The event took place at Amraghat, Palanghat Block of Cachar District

The auspicious occasion was graced by notable dignitaries, including Mr. Rabishankar

Limaham. District Development Manager (DDM), NABARD, Cachar District and Mr.

Monoj Kr. Das, Branch Manager of Assam Ciramin Vikash Bank (AGVB), Mutinagar Branch. The Refresher Training programme was designed to uplift the skillsets of women engaged in Jur and Cotton Bag Making, thereby making them self-reliant contributors to their Highlighting the event was the inauguration of a Demonstration unit, an initiative aimed at

showcasing best practices and sustainable solutions. The unit was inaugurated by Rabishankar Likmabem, emphasizing NABARIY’s commitment to skill development and rural upliftment. The Brunch Manager of AGVB, Motinagar Branch, Mr. Monej Ka Das, lauded

NSWS for their concerted efforts and expressed his eagerness to continue supporting such inmatives

Rahishankar Limabam shed light on NABARD’s unique support mechanium, wherein training programmes like these are backed by NABARD through its implementing agencies. The primary goal is to equip SHG women with valuable skills, provide credit support through banks, and offer gudance for marketing endeavors for a span of two years.

Arup Kumar Chowdhary, Secretary of NSWS, expread hurtfelt gratitude for NABARD pivotal role in uplifting the lives of beneficiaries. He commended NABARD’s unwavering dedication to financial support for SHCs, enabling them to generate income through diverse livelihood activities. This commitment aligns with NABARD’s overarching mision to drive rural India towards economic growth and psperity.

A resounding success in skill development and women empowerment was achieved under the stewardship of Fahr Hussain Laskar, NSWS Counlimate, as he orchestrated a splendid programme that left an indelible impact. This initiative, focused on spafting underdeveloped Self-Help Group (SHG) women, was significantly supported by NABARD The Refresher Training programme and the inauguration of the Demonstration unit underscore the collaborative efforts between NSWS and NABARD to foster skill development, financial inclusion, and holistic rural progress.
