The BSF deployed on the Indo-Bangladesh border is not only guarding the international border, but in collaboration with various NGOs, organizes awareness programs in border schools from time to time to root out crimes and social evils.
On 22nd August, 2023, Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of 70 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier in association with Shakti Vahini NGO organized another awareness program related to Prevention of Human Trafficking and other crimes at Hatimari High School, Gajol, Malda.
In this awareness programme, Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of BSF informed the rural women on topics like human trafficking, child abuse, child labour, gender discrimination, misuse of social media and importance of education etc. About 35 teachers and 650 girls of the school participated in the awareness programme.
The people of nearby villages expressed their gratitude towards BSF for organizing this program and urged the jawans to organize such awareness programs in future also.
A K Arya, DIG, Spokesperson, BSF, South Bengal Frontier stated that human trafficking, child abuse and child labor are heinous crimes that thrive by exploiting the most vulnerable members of the society. It is the responsibility of governments, organizations and society to unite to end this modern slavery, and ensure that every human being is treated with dignity and respect.
