Assam Rifles embarked on an ambitious mission to nurture our environment by organizing a Mass Tree Plantation Drive at COB Yangangpokpi, COB Sawombung, and COB Litan on September 15, 2023.
The primary objective of this monumental tree planting initiative was to create widespread awareness about the pivotal role that trees play in our lives and the critical need for maintaining ecological balance. Trees, often underestimated, are fundamental to our existence, providing not only clean air but also sustenance and vital support to our ecosystem. A total of 35 dedicated troops and 93 enthusiastic locals joined hands to participate in this significant event. Together, they planted an impressive 2,125 saplings of diverse tree varieties. It was a heartening display of collective action and environmental stewardship. The occasion served as an educational platform, where both troops and civilians were enlightened about the multifaceted significance of trees. Beyond the provision of clean air and nutritious food, trees are guardians of biodiversity, champions of water conservation, custodians of soil integrity, and instrumental in climate control. Recognizing these aspects underscores the importance of preserving and nurturing our green companions.
