The East Zone Debate Competition on Human Rights for Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) was held on 13thOctober 2023 at the Auditorium of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology in Kalyani. The Event was Organized by the 05 Battalion, Border Security Force under the auspices of BSF, South Bengal Frontier, the event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 24 participants representing six different CAPFs, including BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP, RPF, and SSB.
The competition, which took place from 11:00 AM to 1:40 PM, saw eminent personalities in the field of law and order grace the occasion. The esteemed jury panel comprised of Justice (Retd) Madhumati Mitra, Member State Human Rights Commission (WB), Sankaran Ramakrishnan, IPS (Retd), and Naparajit Mukhrejee, IPS (Retd).
In the English language category, the first position was secured by Daljeet Singh (AC) & SI Shiwang Walia of BSF, showcasing their eloquence and in-depth knowledge of human rights issues. The second position was bagged by Anil Goud (DC) & Sh Amrendra Kumar (AC) of CISF, demonstrating their remarkable debating skills.
In the Hindi language category, Lady Ct Deeksha Sharma & Lady Ct Sharda Kumari of CISF clinched the first position with their compelling arguments and articulate presentation. The second position was won by SI Manish Saharan & SI/Mahila Lalita Bhatt of BSF, who exhibited exceptional proficiency in expressing their views on human rights matters.
Following the intense and thought-provoking debates, prizes were distributed to the winners. Sh Rajesh Kumar, DIG SHQ BSF Kolkata, extended his gratitude to the participants, jury members, and organizers for their valuable contributions. He delivered a heartfelt Vote of Thanks and presented mementos to the esteemed jury as tokens of appreciation.
