In a reverent gathering, a poignant wreath-laying ceremony unfolded at the National War Memorial, Delhi on 03 Dec 2023 to pay homage to the unwavering spirit and selfless sacrifice of Rifleman (GD) (Late) Raj Nath Yadav. The ceremony, graced by the presence of the Veer Nari, Smt. Ram Devi, commemorated the valiant sacrifice of Rifleman Raj Nath Yadav, who gave his life defending the Company operating base during a ruthless raid by Militant Groups on 09 July 1987.
Rifleman (GD) (Late) Raj Nath Yadav’s heroic stand at Oinam, Senapati District, Manipur, on that fateful day exemplifies the courage and dedication inherent in our armed forces. His sacrifice in the face of an NSCN (IM) attack stands as a testament to the indomitable spirit that defines our military personnel.
The wreath-laying ceremony at the National War Memorial served as a solemn remembrance of Rifleman (GD) (Late) Raj Nath Yadav’s sacrifice, as well as the sacrifices of countless others who have laid down their lives in defense of the nation. Accompanied by dignitaries, military officials, and well-wishers, the Veer Nari offered a wreath, symbolizing eternal gratitude and respect.
The National War Memorial, a symbol of remembrance, provided a fitting backdrop for the ceremony, underscoring the sacrifices made by our brave soldiers and the enduring resilience of their families.
At Sajik Tampak, Assam Rifles held anotherv solemn wreath-laying ceremony to commemorate Rifleman (Late) Gopal Chand, recipient of the Kirti Chakra (Posthumous), who made the ultimate sacrifice while courageously confronting insurgents near Hillock, adjacent to Border Pillar 136 (Indo-Myanmar) in Nagaland.
On this day in 1984, in Tuensang District, Nagaland, Rifleman (Late) Gopal Chand displayed exceptional valour, dedicating his life to the cause of the nation. In a heartfelt tribute, a contingent comprising 04 Officers, 14 Junior Commissioned Officers, and 82 Other Ranks from the Battalion paid their respects by laying wreaths and offering a dignified Guard of Honour. This ceremony stands as a poignant acknowledgment of the bravery and selflessness exemplified by Rifleman (Late) Gopal Chand in service to the country.
