BSF ORGANIZES CIVIC ACTION PROGRAM IN BORDER VILLAGES NEAR THE INDIA-BANGLADESH BORDER

On 10th December 2023, In an endeavor to strengthen community bonds and enhance relations with residents of villages near the India-Bangladesh border, the troops of Border Outpost -Ashirdah 35 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier, BSF organized a Civic Action Program. The initiative aimed at distributing essential commodities to those living along the border, conducting free medical camps, providing educational materials to schoolchildren, and fostering enthusiasm for sports among the youth.

The Civic Action Program at Asharidah saw the participation of key dignitaries, including DIG, SHQ Berhampur, Commandant, 35 Battalion, senior medical officers from the 149 Battalion, and medical officers from BPCC. The program drew the involvement of approximately 835 individuals, including village headmen, Panchayat members, and residents from Manikchak, Airmari, Hanumant Nagar, Akhirganj, and Ramnagar.

The event encompassed the distribution of educational materials such as writing boards, chairs, and desks to support children’s education. To promote digital literacy, computers, and printers were provided to assist in making youngsters digitally literate. Additionally, sports equipment was distributed to ignite a passion for football, volleyball, and other games among the youth. A volleyball match was organized after the program, fostering a spirit of camaraderie.

Villagers Commended the BSF’s commitment to organizing such events, emphasizing that they contribute to fostering positive relationships between the BSF and the border residents. DIG, SHQ Berhampur was awarded the winning team in the volleyball match and expressed the intention to continue organizing such programs in the future.

A.K Arya, DIG, Public Relations Officer, South Bengal Frontier said that BSF consistently conducts various programs throughout the year, including medical camps, blood donation drives, and more. These initiatives not only address the immediate needs of the border communities but also strengthen the bond between the BSF and the border residents. The Civic Action Program serves as a testament to the BSF’s multifaceted approach to contributing to the well-being and development of the communities living in the border regions.
