Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) Flagged Off National Integration Tour to Kolkata from Somsai on Sunday, 17th December.
The Flag Off was done by Commander 10 Sector Assam Rifles.
The tour comprises of a total of 34 participants which included 25 students from Kamjong, Tengnoupal and Imphal from a heartening mix of Naga, Kuki and Meitei communities.
The Flag Off ceremony was marked with an invigorating address by the Assam Rifles Sector Commander and speeches by the students who shared their excitement and expectations from this tour. This integrated tour of diverse communities will visit places of historical and national significance in Kolkata. The 11 boy and 14 girl students from 11 schools in this tour will also get a unique opportunity to interact with the Hon’ble Governor as well as the Army Commander, Eastern Command.
The initiative undertaken as part of OP SADHBHAVANA has witnessed students from remote areas and different communities participating with zeal and enthusiasm. The 13 day event aims to provide a platform to the youth to nurture national integration, social harmony and build inquisitive nature while providing kids with an exposure to the rich culture, history of the armed forces of our nation. The participants embarked on this tour from Somsai from where they will move to Kolkata by Train.
The parents and faculty of respective schools conveyed their immense gratitude to the Assam Rifles for providing such a valuable opportunity to the students and requested to organize more such events in the future.
