Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) organised a Security Meet at T Khongkhai village, Churachandpur District on 16th December .
T Khongkhai village being located on crucial location near Indo Myanmar Border, close coordination of security forces with local populace for peace in the area is an obligatory task. The security meet was attended by 22 village chiefs. The discussion was focussed on cooperation and coordination with the security forces. Villagers shared their experiences, views and challenges faced by them due to the outbreak of violence in the area & also aired their concerns about security while giving their wholehearted assurance of supporting the Assam Rifles in the process of maintaining peace in the area.
Emphasizing the need to protect & conserve the environment and promote Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Assam Rifles organised “Tree Plantation Drive” at areas around Loktak Lake on 16th December.
During the well-orchestrated campaign, troops of Assam Rifles in co-ordination with local villagers of surrounding villages of Loktak Lake planted saplings of various varieties and pledged to keep the environq ment clean and green. The drive was aimed with an objective to contribute in preserving, promoting the environment that protect us from dangerous ultra-violet rays and plays a pivotal role in preventing soil erosion and deforestation.
The localities around Loktak Lake highly appreciated the initiative of Assam Rifles for organising the tree plantation drive.
