Tamil Nadu Flood rescue operations:IAF rescued 4 stranded persons in the morning today

Indian Air Force rescues 04 persons including one pregnant lady and a baby aged 1.5 yrs in a MI-17V5 Aircraft pressed into HADR Operations in Tamil Nadu. Unprecedented rains in last 24 hours have caused extensive flooding in Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi districts.The helicopters have dropped more than 10 tonnes of relief materials,flying more than 22 hours today.

 

In response to the floods in Tamil Nadu, the Indian Air Force has deployed Medium Lift Helicopters (MLH) and and Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH) Dhruv for HADR efforts. The helicopters are operating from Madurai in co-ordination with the civil authorities for rescue and supply drops.

Defence Spokesman,Eastern Region Wing Commander Himanshu Tiwari stated this in a release.
