On December 24, 2023, In a remarkable display of community engagement, Troops of 159 Battalion, BSF organized a Civic Action Program in the nearby bordering villages along the India-Bangladesh border in Dist Malda, West Bengal. The event, conducted by the troops of Border Outpost Sonaghat under the South Bengal Frontier, aimed at addressing the needs of the local community and fostering a sense of well-being among the residents.
Approximately 100 villagers from the nearby bordering villages were the direct beneficiaries of this thoughtful initiative. The Civic Action Program focused on providing essential items to those in need, contributing significantly to the improvement of living conditions. Blankets, sewing machines, solar lights, wheelchairs, dustbins, and water storage tanks were among the items distributed, totaling a value of Rs. 1,08,790.00/-.
A notable aspect of the program was the distribution of sports items to the youth clubs of the villages. This strategic move aimed to not only promote sportsmanship but also to foster comradeship among the youth, laying the groundwork for a healthier and more connected community.
The Gram Pradhan, local community members, and villagers expressed their gratitude, extending heartfelt thanks to the BSF for organizing such impactful events in their villages.
