Assam Rifles foils cross border smuggling of contraband in Kamjong District on 28th December 2023. Based on credible inputs received regarding dumping of Areca Nuts in general area Namlee market & Wanglee village, a column was launched.
On thorough search of 13 houses in & around Wanglee village, Namlee village & Namlee market, several illegal dumps of Areca/ Beetel Nuts (Supari) were found for black market sales.
A total of 6,785 bags of Areca/ Beetel Nuts valued at Rs 46.90 Crore were seized which were further handed over to Forest Beat Officer, Nambashi.
