GENERAL OFFICER COMMANDING, SPEAR CORPS FLAGS IN TWO NATIONAL INTEGRATION TOURS AT RANGAPAHAR MILITARY STATION

Lieutenant General HS Sahi, AVSM, YSM, SM, General Officer Commanding, Spear Corps, flagged in two National Integration Tours under Operation Sadbhavana and Assam Rifles Civil Action Initiative for students of Manipur, who travelled to Gujarat & West Bengal.

The National Integration Tour to Kolkata, executed under Operation Sadbhavana from 19th December to 28th December 2023. The contingent, comprised of 25 students hailing from Tangkhul, Kuki, and Meitei communities from schools across Kamjong, Imphal East and Tegnoupal Districts, delved into the diverse facets of Kolkata. Notable highlights encompassed visits to Airforce Station Kalaikunda,INS Netaji Subhas, Indian Navy war ship INS Sumitra , Victoria Memorial and venues like Nicco Park, Birla Planetarium, and Eden Gardens. The students were privileged to engage in discussions with C.V Ananda Bose, Governor of West Bengal and P S Sreedharan Pillai, Governor of Goa.Furthermore, they had an enlightening interaction with Lieutenant General Rana Pratap Kalita, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, the General Officer Commanding in Chief, Eastern Command.

Simultaneously, the National Integration Tour to Rajkot, under Assam Rifles Civic Action Initiative from with students representing Tangkhul, Kuki, and Meitei communities from Manipur was also flagged in. The tour encompassed exploration of Rashtriya Katha Shivir at Pransla, where students gained insights into holistic personality development and interactions with eminent personalities. They were also given exposure to the Indian Army, CAPFs and witnessed latest technology by the DRDO. The students experience included visits to the Statue of Unity, Christmas celebrations with an Indian Army Battalion and thought-provoking interactions with military leaders.

The tours aimed to immerse children from remote areas of Manipur in the rich cultural tapestry and heritage of our nation. Concurrently, the tours nurtured harmony across communities, fostering integration. The children actively participated in all activities gaining knowledge of the myriad opportunities flourishing in modern India.

During the Flag-In ceremony children and teachers shared their tour experiences, bringing to life the vibrant and awe-inspiring moments they encountered. Their heartfelt speeches resonated with gratitude towards Assam Rifles and Indian Army for orchestrating this unique and enlightening opportunity.

Later, during interactions with the General Officer Commanding, Spear Corps, the students received valuable awareness of the inherent strength derived from our nation’s diversity. The General Officer Commanding urged them to actively champion unity. Additionally, he encouraged the students to sustain their inquisitive nature while nurturing the bonds forged during this transformative tour. Following the insightful interaction, the Corps Commander presented memento to the students, serving as a lasting token of remembrance and appreciation.

The students and teachers conveyed deep appreciation to Assam Rifles for organising the tours that seamlessly embraced the diverse communities of Manipur. This experience offered the children not only an immersive learning journey but also a profound appreciation for India’s cultural richness and diversity.
