Assam Rifles, standing true to its commitment to the well-being of the communities it serves, initiated two significant events aimed at fostering awareness and combating drug abuse in Manipur. Through lectures conducted at Hiangtam Khunou, Songdoi, Singhat, and Sajik Tampak villages, the force engaged with the local population to address the pressing issue of illicit trafficking and substance abuse. These endeavours underscore Assam Rifles’ dedication not only to security but also to actively contributing to the social fabric of Manipur.
Assam Rifles, under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South), organized enlightening lectures on drug abuse and illicit trafficking at Sajik Tampak in Chandel district and at Hiangtam Khunou, Songdoi, and Singhat villages in Churachandpur district on 02 Jan 2024. The event was organized under the theme of ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ (NMBA) to educate youth regarding the ill effects of drugs on human body especially smoking and chewing tobacco. The lectures witnessed active participation from villagers, including youths, with a focus on guiding the younger generation away from the dangers of substance abuse. The initiative aimed to create awareness about the perils of tobacco usage and engage the youth in socially productive activities.
