Assam Rifles, as part of its Civic Action Program, took a significant step towards fostering community development by organizing sports tournaments and distributing sports equipment in various villages. The initiative extended to Chandel, Larong, and Moltuk villages of Chandel District, as well as Machi in Tengnoupal District.
The primary objective of this undertaking is to strengthen ties with the youth and student community in Chandel and Tengnoupal districts. The event included the distribution of sports items, followed by interactive sessions with the local youth, where discussions covered a diverse range of events and development activities.
An impressive turnout of 550 locals attended the program, reflecting the community’s enthusiasm for sports and overall development.
In a parallel initiative under the Operation Sadbhavna project, Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), distributed water storage tanks at Henjol village, Churachandpur District, Manipur, from 16 to 18 January 2024.
A total of 40 storage tanks at Henjol village, 35 water storage tanks at Hiangtam Lamka and 35 water storage tanks at Veng were distributed to aid the local populace of the said villages during the time of crisis.
Assam Rifles, being a forerunner in providing aid to civil society and promoting the lifestyle of remote villages in the area of responsibility in Manipur State, believes that the distribution of water storage tanks will meet the necessary requirement of the local populace. This initiative aims to enable them to have a permanent storage facility for clean water, thereby restricting them from using water from unhealthy or contaminated stagnant water sources, which may cause various waterborne diseases.
