Major General H Dharmarajan, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM relinquished the Command of General Officer Commanding, Bengal Sub Area and superannuated from service on 31 Jan 2024. The General Officer had taken over the Command of GOC, Bengal Sub Area on 01 Feb 2023.
The General is an alumni of R.I.M.C, Dehradun, National Defence Academy, Khandakwasla, Indian Military Academy (IMA) Dehradun and Defence Services Staff College, Wellington. The General has attended Higher Command Course at Washington D.C. and National Defence College (NDC) at New Delhi. The General Officer is Bachelor of Technology (BTech), Masters of Science (MSc) (Defence Studies), Masters of Science (MSc), (National Security Strategy), Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) (Strategic Studies) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) Human Resource Management (HRM). He was commissioned into the Corps of Engineers (Madras Engineer Group) in December 1986 and during thirty eight years of his illustrious career, the General Officer had held several prestigious appointments at various levels at Brigade, Division, Corps, Command and Army Headquarters. The General had commanded an Infantry Division on the Line of Control and also headed the Rashtriya Indian Military College Dehradun during his career.
The General Officer, while being at the helm of Bengal Sub Area, carried on with the wonderful legacy left by his predecessors and achieved greater laurels while conducting numerous important events like the Republic Day and Independence Day Parades at Red Road, Vijay Diwas, Defence Exhibitions, Exercise Sagar Sampark to name a few. He took keen interest in establishing a bridge between the Ex Servicemen and the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and in enhancing quality of life of Service Personnel. He was recently awarded with the highest distinguished service award of Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM) on the Republic Day 2024.
The General Officer moves to Chennai post superannuation to take on new challenges in his journey ahead.
