3RD EDITION OF CHANDEL MINI MARATHON ‘RUN CHANDEL RUN’ ORGANISED BY ASSAM RIFLES

In a synergised effort to make it a calendar event for Chandel sporting season, Assam Rifles in collaboration with District Sports Association (DSA) Chandel, Wisecrabs, Royal Riders Chandel, Chandel District Administration, Chandel Police and Medical Department Chandel co-organised 3rd edition of mini marathon “Run Chandel Run” 2024 on 03 February 2024 with the motto “Chandel Runs for Peace and Unity” by uniting people of aspirational district Chandel and spreading the message of peace to all the corners of Manipur.

The event was organized to spread the message of Peaceful co-existence and also to promote fitness, health and well-being amongst the local populace, especially the youth. The event was a great opportunity for the community to come together and support a noble cause.

Brigadier Vedpal Yadav, SM, Deputy Inspector General,26 Sector Assam Rifles flagged off the mini marathon.He emphasised that sporting events like Marathon bring together people from all walks of life and encouraged everyone to make physical activity a part of their daily fitness regime.

Almost 500 runners participated in the event that was divided into two categories, 5 kms for the age category ‘Under-16’ and ‘Above 40 years’ and 10 Kms for ‘16-40 yrs’ segment from Heibunglok Village. Participants were from all ages, including students, athletes, troops of Assam Rifles, Chandel Police, Border Security Force and Manipur Rifles and fitness enthusiasts. Brigadier Vedpal Yadav, SM, DIG HQ 26 Sector Assam Rifles and Colonel Abhimanyu Singh, Commandant 21 Assam Rifles fuelled motivation in the marathon by their participation. The run concluded at Maha Union Govt Higher Secondary School.

In his closing remarks, Brigadier Vedpal Yadav, SM, DIG 26 Sector Assam Rifles thanked all the participants of Chandel for their enthusiasm and dedication to the cause and hoped that the message of the marathon reaches far and wide and inspires people to have peaceful coexistence among different communities He reiterated the commitment of Assam Rifles in bringing together all the communities together and adopting fitness and healthy living among the citizens of Manipur and urged everyone to join hands in bringing normalcy and peace in the state.

The organizers and local populace provided the runners with water stations enroute and refreshments post run. Medical cover throughout the route was provided by Assam Rifles and Chief Medical Officer, Chandel. The event also witnessed local artists showcasing their talent at the Closing Ceremony.

The mini-marathon conducted by Assam Rifles was a resounding success, with its message to restore normalcy and peace in state due to ongoing communal violence and also lead a healthy life and adopt a fitness regime.

The event was a testament to the commitment of Assam Rifles to promote the well-being of the citizens of Manipur and the nation at large.
