Assam Rifles under the aegis HQ IGAR(S) organised a wreath laying ceremony for Rifleman (Late) Tek Bahadur Gurung who gave supreme sacrifice while battling the insurgents at Kohima in Nagaland on 2nd February 1967 at Dalung, Aizwal district, Mizoram.
Assam Rifles honoured the braveheart who made supreme sacrifice for the cause of the Nation on this day in 1967 at Chandel District, Manipur while battling the insurgents. The ceremony commenced with the wreath laying by Commandant of the unit and a motivational speech to all ranks narrating the story of the braveheart. A total of 03 Officers, 10 Junior Commissioned Officers and 109 Other Ranks of the Battalion paid tribute by laying wreaths & according Guard of Honour.
On the same day, Assam Rifles organised another wreath laying ceremony for Havildar Narender Singh who gave supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation. Havildar Narender Singh laid down his life due to bullet injury during face off with insurgents at Kwatha near Indo-Myanmar Border in Manipur during Border Pillar verification duties.
Assam Rifles honoured the braveheart by paying homage at War Memorial to their supreme sacrifice for the cause of the Nation disregarding personal safety. 01 Officer, 11 Junior Commissioned Officers and 33 Other Ranks of Assam Rifles paid tribute by laying wreath & according Guard of Honour.
