Amidst ongoing tensions in Moreh, Tengnoupal District, Manipur, the healthcare system in rural areas suffered greatly, leaving villagers without access to essential medical services. Recognizing the urgent need, units of the Indian Army and HQ IGAR (South) organized a mega medical camp in P. Laijang on 15 February, as part of Operation Sadbhavna, to serve 12 villages.
Prioritizing the most vulnerable, including the elderly, pregnant women, and children, the medical team conducted thorough check-ups and distributed essential medicines, addressing the scarcity exacerbated by the tensions. The event drew an overwhelming turnout, with over 500 villagers attending from 12 villages north of Moreh.
The joint initiative received widespread appreciation from the local community, who saw it as a beacon of hope amidst communal tensions. Representatives from four villages visited the camp to express gratitude to the medical team for their thoughtful efforts, which underscored the commitment of the Indian Army and IGAR (South) to serving conflict-affected communities and ensuring essential services reach those who need them most.
Operation Sadbhavana continues to demonstrate the Army’s dedication to fostering peace, stability, and well-being in the region.
