Humanitarian works by the Sentinels of North East – Assam Rifles

ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTED A FRIENDLY VOLLEYBALL MATCH FOR WOMEN BETWEEN ASSAM RIFLES RIFLEWOMEN AND WOMEN VOLLEYBALL CLUB OF S KOTLIAN VILLAGE AT KANGVAI SUB- DIVISION, DISTRICT CHURACHANDPUR, MANIPUR

Acknowledging and nurturing young talent serves as a catalyst for guiding and inspiring youth towards a positive direction. In line with this ethos, an initiative was undertaken to host a sports event for young women in S Kotlian village of Churachandpur district.

Assam Rifles organized and facilitated a Friendly Volleyball Match for women. This match brought together the Assam Rifles Riflewomen and the women’s volleyball team from S Kotlian village and neighboring villages at Kangvai Sub-Division, Churachandpur District, Manipur on 27th February 2024.

The primary objective of this event was to empower women in the field of sports, providing them with a platform to showcase their skills and sportsmanship. A total of 12 enthusiastic and talented sportswomen participated in the event, which also aimed to raise awareness about the sports culture in India, promote the benefits of an active lifestyle for overall health, and highlight the myriad opportunities available to women in today’s world.

ASSAM RIFLES DISTRIBUTED RELIEF MATERIALS AT RELIEF CAMPS IN KAKCHING, MANIPUR UNDER CIVIC ACTION PROGRAMME

Internally Displaced People have been severely affected since the outbreak of ethnic violence in Manipur. Loss of livelihood, shelter, an uncertain future, and difficulties in managing daily necessities are serious concerns for IDPs. Relief Camps in Kakching city have provided shelter to IDPs from Serou, Sugnu, and Moreh, but the inmates of these Relief Camps are struggling to meet their daily requirements.

Recognizing the pressing needs of basic amenities for the inmates of Relief Camps in Kakching, relief materials were distributed at Old Age Home Relief Camp, Wabagai, and Indoor Stadium Relief Camp, Kakching.

The distributed relief materials comprised a wide range of essential items, including food items, bed sheets, pillows, sleeping bags, tarpaulins, mosquito nets, toiletries, water filters, dustbins, infant food items, and many other daily necessities. Approximately 400 individuals, including elders, youth, and small children from 5 different relief camps, benefited from these efforts.

This noble initiative of Assam Rifles aimed to address the needs of the Relief Camp inmates, assisting them in meeting their livelihood requirements and contributing to the socio-economic fabric of the region. The Relief Camp Management authorities, various civil organization members, and inmates expressed their gratitude and lauded the efforts of Assam Rifles during challenging times.

ASSAM RIFLES PROVIDED IMMEDIATE EMERGENCY MEDICAL AID TO VICTIM OF ROAD ACCIDENT AT PALLEL

On 26 Feb 24 at around 05:30 PM, a local individual of Unapal village, travelling from Pallel to Kakching on a two wheeler, met with an accident at Nungourok village which is around 1Km from Pallel town on NH102. The individual lost control of the bike and was seriously injured. The Assam Rifles troops brought the injured person, Mr Ch Neiinkhop Aimol (age 70 yrs) to the Assam Rifles MI Room at Pallel and the on duty medical team provided emergency medical aid to the injured person.

The locals appreciated the speedy response of Assam Rifles and also applauded the efforts in maintaining security and peace in Pallel.

ASSAM RIFLES ORGANISED BLOOD DONATION CAMP IN MANIPUR

Blood donation is a crucial act that can save numerous lives in times of need. Recognizing this importance, a Blood Donation Camp was organized by Assam Rifles along the Indian Red Cross Society and the local community at District Hospital, Thoubal in Manipur on 27th February 2024.

Soldiers and civilians alike came together to donate blood, demonstrating their commitment to helping others and contributing to the well-being of society. This initiative showcased the readiness of individuals to serve their community in any way possible, setting a commendable example for others to follow.

The efforts of all participants, including the locals and medical staff of District Hospital Thoubal, were highly appreciated; highlighting the positive impact such initiatives have on the community’s health .

ASSAM RIFLES DISTRIBUTES SOLAR LIGHTS UNDER ‘ASSAM RIFLES CIVIC ACTION PROGRAMME’ IN UKHRUL DISTRICT, MANIPUR

The remote village of Lureisimphung in the Ukhrul district of Manipur has long been deprived of a continuous supply of electricity. The village authorities sought assistance from the Assam Rifles, and on 27th February 2024, under the ‘Assam Rifles Civic Action Programme’, a solution was implemented.

The installation of solar lights in the village has provided a fundamental amenity, significantly improving the quality of life for its residents and fostering a stronger bond between the villagers and the Assam Rifles.

The people of Lureisimphung village expressed their sincere gratitude for the assistance provided by the Assam Rifles and have expressed their hope for further initiatives aimed at the overall betterment of society.
