To commemorate the auspicious 6th Cycle and the 72nd birth year of His Majesty King Rama X and as a mark of enduring friendship between the people of India and Thailand, the sacred relics of Lord Buddha and his disciples, Arahant Sariputta and Arahant Maha Moggallana have arrived from India on 22 February for 25-day exposition in four cities of Thailand.
Currently, the holy relics are enshrined at Sanam Luang Royal palace ground in Bangkok. It is estimated that everyday almost a lakh devotees are visiting the ‘mandapa’ that has been custom built for the relics. Apart from people of Thailand, the devotees from Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam are visiting the Bangkok to their respect.
On Monday, 26 February, Their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand visited the ‘mandapa’ to pray before the sacred relics.
Large number of devotees are expected visit the relics this weekend on 2-3 March 2024. The relics will be taken to Chiang Mai on 4 March where will be enshrined till 8 March.
