Youth of 15 remote villages in sensitive areas of Churachandpur district, Manipur were deprived of sports facilities due to ongoing ethnic clashes and faced paucity of sports equipment’s and poor infrastructure issues.
Security Forces joined hands with locals in preparation and maintenance of sports grounds which were not being utilized in the past. Youth from more than 15 villages were motivated and based on their request, Inter- Village Football Tournament was organised.
The Football Tournament was organised with effect from 26 Feb 2024 to 01 March 2024 in which a total of 15 villages located near sensitive area participated. Winners and Runner up teams were awarded with trophy and sports equipment’s.
People of the local area appreciated the importance of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork and a competitive spirit among youth. All commended the efforts of the participating teams and appreciated the role of such events in promoting youth engagement in sportsmanship.
ASSAM RIFLES DISTRIBUTED SOLAR LIGHTS UNDER ASSAM RIFLES CIVIC ACTION PROGRAM AT CHAHNOU, THENJOL AND TUILAKJANG VILLAGES OF CHURACHANDPUR DISTRICT IN MANIPUR
Power supply is a basic need of human beings after food, clothing and shelter to survive and thrive in their normal routine as it facilitates education, security, safe move at night, routine functioning of all villages and for infrastructure development especially in remote areas where permanent electricity/ power supply arrangements are inadequate. Commencement of electrification in certain areas in Churachandpur district was stalled for more than nine months due to prevailing situation in Manipur.
Addressing this essential need of the people of remote villages, security forces distributed solar lights at Chahnou, Thenjol and Tuilakjang villages of Churachandpur, district under Assam Rifles Civic Action Program for the Financial Year 2023-2024 on 02 Mar 2024.
The initiative aimed to distribute solar lights in remote villages as this option is eco- friendly amd low maintenance.
