A day before Women’s Day, Assam Rifles assisted the local women of Tamenglong by distribution of Five Sewing Machines on 07 March 2024, with an aim of empowering the women.
The machines were handed over to a co-operative of young entrepreneurs who train local women of the area. The cooperative provides vocational training in the discipline of sewing and tailoring to young girls, including those from underprivileged families.
Conduct of Vocational Training would contribute towards empowerment and independence of the local women. This initiative was welcomed whole heartedly by the local community and they lauded the efforts of Assam Rifles for this thoughtful gesture.
