ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTS WREATH LAYING CEREMONY OF BRAVEHEART

A wreath laying ceremony in honour of L/Nk Bhola Dutt Chhetri who made the ultimate sacrifice displaying unwavering courage and dedication to duty despite facing overwhelming odds in intense Counter Insurgency Operation in Aizawl, Mizoram was held on 07 March 1966.

Intense attack was inflicted across all bases and Battalion  HQ of 1 Assam Rifles continuously for several days by the MNF insurgents. Dimagiri base had only 8 soldiers protecting it from the aggravated firing of insurgents. During intense firefight, L/Nk Bhola Dutt Chhetri in act of bravely countering the insurgent’s attack got injured and due to severe blood loss, he fell in line of duty towards the nation.

L/Nk Bhola Dutt Chhetri made supreme sacrifice displaying valour and courage on 07 March 1966.The ceremony commenced with the wreath laying by Commandant of the Unit and a motivational speech to all ranks narrating the story of the braveheart to infuse a sense of pride and honour in the force.

A total strength of 04 Officers, 160Junior Commissioned Officers and 144 Other Ranks of the Battalion paid tribute by laying wreaths & honouring the braveheart with Guard of Honour.

ASSAM RIFLES DISTRIBUTES ELECTRONIC TABLETS TO CHILDREN OF MOIRANG AND THANGA VILLAGES TO PROMOTE EDUCATION

In a heartening display of compassionate assistance, requirement of children was assessed, analysed and after brief deliberation, Assam Rifles distributed electronic tablets to schools in villages Moirang and Thanga on 09 Mar 2024.

The distribution programme was conceptualized as a part of Operation Sadhbhavna Programme for the Financial Year 2023-24. It was conducted with a view to promote children to attend schools and also to learn from online Edtech platforms. This initiative will also encourage students to perform well in exams and extra curricular activities.

A total of 62 children studying in schools at villages Moirang and Thanga would directly benefit from this assistance, providing sustainable “Education for All”.

ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTED MEDICAL CAMP AT PHUNDREI VILLAGE OF THOUBAL DISTRICT, MANIPUR

Locals of Phundrei village and around were facing problems because of unavailability of varied medicines in their nearest PHC. Children of the village were suffering due to inaccessibility of medical facility in the region. The underlying problem was the lack of adequate staff and medicine stock in nearest PHC, which eventually led to grave health issues among villagers hindering their ability to carry out daily chores and activities.

Understanding the urgent requirement of providing the basic need of medical facility for local populace in the area of responsibility, Assam Rifles conducted a medical camp at Phundrei Village of Thoubal district, Manipur under Operation Sadbhavna for the year 2023-24.The medical camp conducted under the able leadership of a proficient Medical Officer also provided the villagers with required prescription medicines at Phundrei Village thereby addressing the foundational issues in the healthcare scenario of the villages around Phundrei.

A total of 210 people attended the medical camp. The village authorities expressed their heartfelt gratitude recognising the selfless commitment of the Assam Rifles to society.

In continuation to provisioning Medical aid, an eight year old child of Tuilumjang village was brought to Assam Rifles Camp Hospital at S Khollen Village, Churachandpur District with a complaint of cut injury over right eyebrow allegedly sustained while playing football game on 08 March 2024. The medical team of Assam Rifles provided timely medical assistance and administered suturing and wound dressing. Further, tetanus injection and medicines were also given for early recovery.

CONSTRUCTION OF NEW TOILET BLOCK FOR ORIENTAL CHILDREN’S HOME ORPHANAGE SCHOOL AT CHAKPIKARONG VILLAGE OF CHANDEL DISTRICT, MANIPUR

Oriental Children’s Home Orphanage School at Chakpikarong Village of Chandel District is a renowned school which benefits numerous underprivileged children in the area. Though the school is educating numerous children, it was devoid of a clean and usable toilet block and was lacking running water. This was creating a lot of sanitation issues and was posing a grave threat to hygiene of the kids.

Recognising the basic and crucial requirement of a clean sanitation system and hygienic environment in the School, Assam Rifles constructed and inaugurated a new toilet block complete with running water facility at the Oriental Children’s Home Orphanage School, Chakpikarong on 07 Mar 2024.

The provision of a new toilet block for the school has ensured a neat and clean sanitation system in the school and has enhanced the hygienic environment of the school and has ruled out chances for any waterborne diseases. Commandant Assam Rifles dedicated the toilet block to the children and interacted with them post inauguration. L. Krownson, Principal of the school and the village authorities of Chakpikarong expressed their heartfelt gratitude recognising the sincere dedication of the Security Force to uplift the morale of the society by providing better conditions to the budding citizens of tomorrow.
