Ahead of the Indian Premier League 2024 season starting next week, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) underwent their first training session at the Eden Gardens on Friday.
The Chandrakant Pandit-coached side will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in their first match at home on March 23.
Although big names were missing from the day’s training session, star Indian players Rinku Singh, Venkatesh Iyer, Manish Pandey, Nitish Rana made their presence felt at the Eden.
“I am happy to be back to KKR after a long time. It feels special and like home. I will look to give my best and help team win the title. It is great to have all the young players in the team along with the senior pros,” Manish said after the training session.
“The competition will be high. I will focus on giving my best in the practice sessions and not think about the match day XI,” the experienced batter added.
The first training session for the Knights at the iconic Eden Gardens began with the entire team getting together in a hurdle as coach Pandit shared his valuable advice with the boys.
It was followed by the team starting off the training with some stretching exercises, the players spent time jogging and dribbling, and seemed in high spirits.
Next up, the players’ fielding skills were tested under the watchful eyes of the team mentor Gautam Gambhir and head coach Pandit.
As the fielding session was over, the batters padded up to face the bowlers, both pacers and spinners.
Swashbuckling batsman Rinku looked in fine touch, smashing the balls while Ventatesh, Pandey, Rana also made the most of the practice session.
