The Independence and National Day 2024 was celebrated with due dignity at Bangladesh Deputy Commission, Kolkata today.
As per the program of the day, the national flag was hoisted in the morning and wreaths were placed at the bust of Bangabandhu on the “Mujib Chiranjeev” stage. Under the leadership of Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh Andalib Ilyas in Kolkata and officials of the Deputy High Commission placed wreaths at the bust sculpture of Bangabandhu.
Apart from this, officials of Sonali Bank Limited and Biman Bangladesh Airlines also laid wreaths there. Thereafter, a documentary film was screened in the event organized at Bangladesh Gallery.
Andalib Elias, Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Kolkata, in his concluding remarks said that under the strong and visionary leadership of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bengalis wrested independence through a war of ultimate sacrifice. The Deputy High Commissioner said that Bangladesh is being led by the present Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in realizing Bangabandhu’s dream of ‘Sonar Bangla’. According to Bangabandhu’s foreign policy of “friendship with all, enmity with none”, the Deputy High Commissioner highlighted in his speech the various constructive activities of the present government in the international erena.
The program was moderated by the Deputy High Commission Second Secretary (Political), Sheikh Marefat Tariqul Islam.
Bangladesh Deputy Commission, Kolkata is also organizing a reception on the occasion of Great Independence and National Day 2024 tomorrow, Wednesday, the 27th March 2024.
