Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarter Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) organised interaction with Ex-Servicemen and Youth Club at Beheng village, Churachandpur District of Manipur on 01 April 2024.
The interaction was organised with an aim to spread awareness among the Ex- Servicemen (ESMs) and their families about various welfare schemes by the Indian Army/ Assam Rifles and guidance on crucial matters such as health care, pension documentation, ECHS, CSD and upcoming Assam Rifles/ Army recruitment Rallies. The participants were also motivated to vary out constructive activities in their villages, motivate and guide youth to join the Indian Armed Forces/ CAPFs. During the interactive session the ESMs were inquired about issues being faced by them at various fronts with dissemination of solution as well. A total of fifteen persons including ESMs and members of Youth Club participated in the said meet.
ASSAM RIFLES PROVIDES MUCH NEEDED SOLACE ACROSS COMMUNITIES DURING FESTIVALS
Festivals bring communities together, however during the present time when the social fabric of Manipur has been distorted due to the ongoing ethnic crises in the state, a large number of people have lost their homes and are still at various relief camps waiting for resettlement. The festivals that mark merry, community spirit and portray the vibrant heritage of Manipur have not brought much happiness to the affected people at relief camps this year.
This year Yaoshang festival which marks the onset of spring and is known for its colourful processions, waterfights and Thabal Chongba, a traditional Manipuri folk dance could not understandably be celebrated with the traditional fervor associated with it. During the Yaoshang festival Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarter Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), recognising the hardships faced by the internally displaced people at relief camps, extended a helping hand by providing essential items like clothing, toiletries, toys and equipment at Kha Manipur College Relief Camp on 30 March 2024. A total of 100 inmates of the relief camp got benefitted from this drive.
In a similar vein Assam Rifles, as part of Easter Sunday joined hand with the locals to organise a community meal at Sehlon village wherein around 186 with locals participated. Furthermore prayers were held to bring back peace and normalcy in the region.
Assam Rifles remains committed to fostering bonhomie, providing relief and spreading positivity in addition to ensuring security so as to bring about peace and normalcy in the state, exemplifying its motto of ‘Friends of the North – East people’.
ASSAM RIFLES ORGANISES FUN AND FROLIC EVENT FOR CHILDREN IN KAMJONG DISTRICT, MANIPUR
To promote physical fitness among children aged 5 to 15 years in the picturesque village of Shangkalok, located in the Kamjong district of Manipur, Assam Rifles organised a multi-sport events aimed at the event, which drew participants from Humine Thana, Phaikoh, Kheraron and Shangkalok villages showcased a wide range of exciting activities tailored to the interests and abilities of young athletes. The fun abd frolic events included Sack and Marble Balancing Race and the Thread Needle Race where the mothers also enthusiastically participated. Tug of War turned out to be the highlight of the day as the parents enthusiastically participated with camaraderie and laughter promoting healthy competition.
A total of 250 participants, including mothers took part in the day’s event. The event not only provided a platform for children to showcase their athletic talents but also fostered bonhomie.
To support the holistic development and well-being of the young participants, Assam Rifles also distributed sports items, and sweets to all children in attendance. In addition, winners and participants were awarded prizes to recognize their efforts and achievements.
The event was met with enthusiasm and excitement from both participants and spectators alike. Assam Rifles’ unwavering dedication to maintaining peace, security, and harmony in the region while actively engaging in various community development initiatives to uplift the local populace was appreciated by the local population.
