To spread awareness and to organise a platform for outreaching to locals, Assam Rifles conducted an awareness lecture on Skill India Programme at Village Hiangtam Khunou, Churachandpur District, Manipur on 10 April 24.
Skill Development Programme is aimed at the process of identification of skills in youth, impart skill training & employment benefits to them. Through this lecture, Assam Rifles aimed to guide the younger populace about the opportunities of a better life away from drug abuse & nefarious activities and incline them towards career opportunities. Total 17 youth and villagers participated in the Skill India Programme and benefitted.
ASSAM RIFLES CELEBRATES NATIONAL SAFE MOTHERHOOD DAY
Assam Rifles organised heartwarming events to celebrate National Motherhood Day on 11 April 2024 among the local community. This initiative aimed to honor and acknowledge the remarkable contributions of mothers and importance of maternal health.
At Sehlon, Kovang, New Samtal and Sajik Tampak of Chandel District the day was celebrated with lectures on health and nutrition of mothers and children followed by medical checkup and some fun activities for women and children. The event culminated with a lunch organized by Assam Riles as a gesture of hospitality. The event witnessed proactive participation by strength of total 329 women and children from the villages.
In a similar vein Assam Rifles, distributed wool and essential items to relief camps in Komlakhong and surrounding villages of Imphal West District on 11 April 2024. The Internally Displaced People (IDPs) present in the relief camps had faced a lot of problems due to shortage of wool and essential items to make clothes for children. Therefore the distribution was conducted with a view to aid the IDPs to make clothes and also generate local source of income for the mothers. The distribution programme also laid a foundation for interaction between Assam Rifles and the IDPs act as an interface to identify the problems and hardships faced by IDPs. A total of 500 IDPs staying in relief camps at Komlakhong village would directly benefit from this assistance provided.
Assam Rifles remains committed to fostering positive community engagement and supporting the well-being of families within local villages. Initiatives like Motherhood Day serve as a testament to this commitment. Assam Rifles, through such events, fosters a sense of cooperation and commitment towards development of community.
ASSAM RIFLES ORGANISES INTER-VILLAGE VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT
Assam Rifles organised a Friendly Inter-Village Volleyball Tournament at Joupi, district Chandel
The tournament was organised with the aim to motivate local youth to refrain from involvement in current communal violence in the Manipur State and promote sports culture.
The mini tournament was organised between teams from Villages – Joupi, Khangbarol, Saibol Joupi, Chalyang and Assam Rifles. After a fascinating contest between the 5 teams the final was contested between teams from Khangabrol Village and Assam Rifles, infront of good, supportive crowd of approximately 70-75 villagers. The team from Khangbarol Village won the tournament and were awarded with a cash prize.
