Assam Rifles organised a lecture on ‘Women Empowerment’ promoting the theme ‘Nari Shakti’ at Sangaikot village, Churachandpur District (Manipur) on 16 April 2024 wherein various schemes undertaken by the Government of India in various fields for women empowerment were explained to the audience. The lecture was followed by mutual interaction wherein the important role of women in the society and their contribution towards the progress of the community, state and the nation was discussed. The awareness lecture was attended by 20 women with full zeal and fervour.
Assam Rifles also organised a lecture on ‘Pros and Cons of Social Media’, ‘Drawing Competition’ & ‘Friendly Volleyball Match’ at Poi village, Ukhrul District, Manipur on 15 April 2024. In the present scenario, social media is both boon and bane. On one hand it provides a platform for enhancing the knowledge and on the other it leads to misinformation and fake news. Keeping in mind the requirement of educating the same, the lecture on ‘Pros and Cons of Social Media’ was conducted at KGBV school, Poi village. A ‘Drawing Competition’ was also conducted at the school. This was aimed to motivate, enhance the importance of co-curricular activities and inculcate competitive spirit in the students.
Subsequently, a ‘Friendly Volleyball Match’ was also conducted with the youths of Poi. The village team participated with full zeal, josh and enthusiasm. This was aimed to motivate the youth towards sports activities and to strengthen the bond with the local populace.
The above events were well appreciated by the villages and school authorities and they applauded the efforts undertaken by Assam Rifles to empower women and motivate the children and youth towards creativity and sports.
