A Goods Train travelling from Haflong to Silchar derailed at Jafna on 25 April 2024 causing two passenger trains stranded on either side with approximately 500 passengers requiring assistance.
Responding to the crisis, the Indian Army on requisition from NF railway to manage the situation, promptly mobilized its soldiers to assist in repair work, provide medical assistance and facilitate the safe evacuation of stranded passengers.
A Control Room had been set up under the aegis of Spear Corps, Indian Army to monitor and co-ordinate the efforts with railway and state authorities.
Once again the Indian Army living upto it’s motto of “Sewa Paramo Dharma” had risen to the occasion and rendered exemplary service to the helpless people and the motherland with utmost possible promptitude.
