ASSAM RIFLES APPREHENDS ONE INDIVIDUAL WITH A CACHE OF BROWN SUGAR AT SONGDOI VILLAGE, CHURACHANDPUR DISTRICT OF MANIPUR

Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) while conducting an area domination patrol apprehended one suspected individual carrying Brown Sugar from Songdoi village of Churachandpur District, Manipur on 1st May 2024.

One individual namely Nangzading, age 27 Years, son of Late Thangsuanmung, resident of New Lamka, Churachandpur District was apprehended along with 660 grams of Brown Sugar packed in 50 soap cases during a routine Area Domination Patrol carried out by the column of Assam Rifles in general area Songdoi, Churachandpur District, Manipur.

The cost of brown sugar as per market rate is approx Rs 1,32,00,000/- (One Crore Thirty Two Lakh Only).

The suspect and the seized contraband have been handed over to the Singhat Police Station on 01 May 24 for further investigations and legal actions.

ASSAM RIFLES ORGANISES TREE PLANTATION DRIVE AT SAIBOL JOUPI VILLAGE, CHANDEL DISTRICT, MANIPUR

In a move towards fostering a healthier and cleaner community while raising awareness about the detrimental effects of deforestation and climate change, Assam Rifles organised a Tree Plantation Drive on 01 May 2024, at Saibol Joupi Village, nestled in the Chandel District.

During this initiative, 500 saplings found new homes across different sections of the village, courtesy of the local residents’ active participation. Alongside the planting spree, educational sessions were conducted, enlightening the attendees, particularly the youth, about the pivotal role trees play in maintaining a balanced ecosystem.

As the great Indian environmentalist Sunderlal Bahuguna once said, “When trees are cut down, the water in the springs and streams disappears and the climate changes.” This event echoes his sentiments, underscoring the urgent need for collective action in safeguarding our environment for future generations.

ASSAM RIFLES ORGANISED INTER VILLAGE VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT AT T KHONGKHAI VILLAGE, CHURACHANDPUR DISTRICT, MANIPUR

Assam Rifles under the theme “Fighting Drugs through Sports” took the initiative of bringing youth together by organising an Inter- Village Volleyball Tournament at T Khongkhai Village, Churachandpur District from 29 April 2024 to 02 May 2024. A total of 11 teams consisting of eight teams in men’s category and three teams in women’s category participated in the said tournament.

The tournament was organised in collaboration with local village bodies for the youth of Solam Haopi area to inspire them to adopt healthy and fit lifestyle. Apart from the playing teams, approximately two hundred locals witnessed the tournament to cheer and encourage their respective teams. The event was also aimed at identifying local talent to motivate them to join Indian Army/ Assam Rifles and benefit from special entries into Indian Armed Forces through the sports quota.

Team of village T K Gunphai in men’s category and team of village Henjol (A) in women’s category emerged as winners in the tournament. The winners and runners up of the tournament in both the categories were awarded with trophies, cash prizes and sports items.

ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTED LECTURE ON HYGIENE AND SANITATION AT AINA VILLAGE, DISTRICT CHURACHANDPUR (MANIPUR) AS PART OF SWACCH BHARAT ABHIYAN

“Practice what you Preach” is an appropriate saying when it comes to inculcating good practices in your daily routine. The same is being followed by Indian Armed Forces from decades to maintain their own area and create a blissful living conditions. In a similar attempt to pass onto this good habit to the locals of remote villages, Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) conducted a lecture on ‘ Hygiene and Sanitation ‘ at Aina village of Churachandpur district, Manipur on 30 April 2024.

This event was designed to advocate for the advantages of a clean, disease-free environment and to enhance awareness regarding various hygiene and sanitation-related ailments. Villagers were updated about different waterborne diseases and effective prevention methods. The significance of maintaining tidy surroundings, along with personal hygiene and sanitation practices, was emphasized throughout the awareness campaign. In total, twenty villagers actively participated in the event, demonstrating their commitment to fostering healthier living conditions within their community.
