Ravi Gandhi, the Additional Director General (ADG) BSF (Eastern Command of the Border Security Force) recently conducted a comprehensive inspection along the India-Bangladesh border in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.This inspection assessed the operational readiness and preparedness of various Battalions deployed under the South Bengal Frontier.
During this crucial inspection, Shri Ravi Gandhi, ADG of the Eastern Command, Kolkata accompanied by Ayush Mani Tiwari, IPS, IG of South Bengal Frontier, visited the Jayantipur Border Outpost area under the jurisdiction of the 5th Battalion. Subsequently, they proceeded to Gunarmath Border Outpost, recognized for its exceptional vigilance, where the Company Commander briefed them on the effective measures taken to tackle border crimes and ensure security.
Following these visits, inspections were carried out at several other border outposts including Angrail, Dobarpada, Jhaudanga, Kharmath, Old Pipali, New Pipali, Tentulberia under the 5 Battalion, BSF and Garjala, Kalanchi under the 112th Battalion, BSF. These inspections aimed to evaluate the operational efficiency and address any challenges faced by the border Battalions.
Moreover, Ravi Gandhi, ADG conducted an in-depth assessment of operational challenges in areas covered by the 112th Battalion, including Bithari Bazaar and Tarali-1 along the riverine regions. Discussions were held to devise effective strategies for managing border-related issues and directives were issued to the company commanders for the same.
Particular attention was given to the Hakimpur Checkpoint area, where the ADG, Eastern Command examined challenges arising from the proximity of villages on both sides of the border. Strategies were discussed to address issues arising from cross-border activities, ensuring comprehensive security measures.
Furthermore, in anticipation of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, a video conference was held with the commanders of BSF Battalions deployed for election security. Instructions were given regarding the preparations and security arrangements for the fifth phase of voting.
Concluding the series of inspections, a visit was made to the headquarters of South Bengal Frontier in Rajarhat, Kolkata, where Ayush Mani Tiwari, IPS, IG, briefed Ravi Gandhi, ADG, about the operational readiness and strategies in the border areas.
Ravi Gandhi, ADG, BSF commended the dedication and professionalism displayed by the BSF personnel in safeguarding the nation’s borders. He reiterated the Eastern Command’s commitment to ensuring the integrity and security of India’s borders, especially in the challenging terrain of the India-Bangladesh border.
