Metro Railway always gives top priority to the safety and security of the commuters. In order to check the preparedness of Metro staff to tackle any emergency like sudden flood inside Metro tunnels and therefore injury to the passengers, a passenger evacuation mock drill was conducted jointly with National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and West Bengal Fire & Emergency Services (WBFES) personnel inside the Metro tunnels in between Dumdum and Noapara Metro stations on June 7, 2024 night after the commercial hours.
Metromen were trained and counseled by NDRF and WBF&ES team on how to take immediate necessary action to rescue passengers from a trapped rake in case of a sudden flood inside the Metro tunnels.
The objective of this mock drill was to upgrade the evacuation skills as well as check alertness and preparedness of Metromen during such emergencies.
Senior Metro officers and staff of different departments were present during this drill.
It is to be noted that Metro Railway authorities regularly conduct such mock drills inside the tunnels, on viaduct to ensure passengers safety.
