The Indian Army who are always made more than a billion people of the Motherland feel safe by guarding our International borders with their selfless sacrifice and dedication has also been very prominent with its contribution towards sports helping the country provide some of the best athletes on the global stage.
Now the personnel of Spear corps of Indian Army organised the Chalou Knockout Football Tournament 2024 in collaboration with Lamlai Police Station and Chalou Youth Football Club at Lamlai Chalou Village of Imphal East.
The tournament organised for the youth aged between 15 and 25 yrs witnessed a participation of 24 Teams from 15 villages. The tournament inaugurated on 03 June 2024 witnessed a total of 25 matches played over six days and provided a platform to showcase talent of the participants.
A cultural event was organised during the Closing Ceremony and the Finals was played between Sawombung Students Club & Lamlai Football Club which was won by Lamlai Football Club with the score line of 2-0.
The Winning Team was awarded with the Championship Trophy, Medals and a cash prize of Rupees Twenty-five thousand and the Runner up Team was awarded Rupees Fifteen thousand as cash prize.
The ‘Man of the Match & ‘Best Player’ award was won by Manohormayum Bigyananda Sharma of Lamlai F.C. and the ‘Best Goalkeeper’ award by Satish Khonjenbam of Sawombung Students Club.
The first of its kind event organised by the Indian Army highlights the synergy & bonhomie fostered between the Indian Army, local youth & State Police Forces.
