Eastern Command celebrated World Blood Donor Day

World Blood Donor Day is celebrated each year on 14th June to commemorate the birthday of Karl Landsteiner, the father of transfusion medicine, in order to raise awareness for the need of safe blood transfusion and to highlight the contribution of voluntary, unpaid blood donors.

On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, Eastern Command of the Indian Army organised blood donation camps across multiple military stations, including Military Hospital, Shillong under 101 Area, Base Hospital,Barrackpore and Command Hospital, Eastern Command at Kolkata.

 

A large number of troops participated in this event for the noble cause .This initiative highlights the commitment of Armed Forces towards Nation building and saving precious human lives fostering the country.
