ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTS WREATH LAYING CEREMONY TO COMMEMORATE THE SUPREME SACRIFICE OF HAVILDAR(GD) LUHIT GOGOI AT JOUPI ON 15 JUNE 2024
Assam Rifles under the aegis Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) carried out a wreath-laying ceremony at Joupi on June 15, 2020, to honor Havildar (GD) Luhit Gogoi. On 15 June 2017, at around 11:15 AM, two IED blasts occurred near Bungdung, Manipur, followed by heavy gunfire from insurgents. A team consisting of one officer, one JCO, and 20 OR was returning from operational duties when the attack happened. Despite being grievously injured by IED splinters, Havildar Gogoi displayed exemplary courage and continued to fight, ultimately succumbing to his wounds and making the supreme sacrifice for the nation.
In recognition of his bravery and dedication, “Gogoi Vatika” was established in the unit on 15 June 2020. The wreath-laying ceremony was a solemn occasion, commemorating the valoant NCO’s valour and the highest standards of military service. His sacrifice is a poignant reminder of the courage and commitment of armed forces, inspiring future generations to uphold these virtues.
ASSAM RIFLES PROVIDES ASSISTANCE TO LOCALS IN RESTORING THE 10 KM ROAD LINK BETWEEN MOULHOI TO THOROILOK VILLAGE
Assam Rifles joined hand with locals in restoring the road link joining the Village Moulhoi-Songdo-T Chawangphai-Mongjang-Pholijang-Gothal-Phoisenbung-P Geljang-Thoroilok, which was rendered unusable due to heavy rains. This 10 km road link was leveled and repaired by employing JCB, tractor & trolly under observation of mechanical transport team of Assam Rifles.
This road was a vital sustainability link for around 18 villages in remote area. This initiative by Assam Rifles in providing necessary assistance to the villagers to restore the road connectivity and has enabled movement of essential supplies. These efforts were appreciated by around 2,000 villages including Villages Chiefs & Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) of nearby villages who were also part of this initiative.
ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTED AN AWARENESS ON MEDICAL EMERGENCIES AND INFECTIOUS DISEASES RELATED TO ALCOHOL & DRUG ABUSE AT VILLAGE S KHOLEN, CHURACHANDPUR DISTRICT
Assam Rifles conducted an awareness lecture on medical emergencies which includes snake bite, cardiac arrest (administering CPR) and infectious diseases related to drug abuse and also conducted yoga practices at village S Kholen, district Churachandpur on 14 June 2024.
The community engagement event focussed on health and wellness activities. Around 60 adults attended lecture and practical sessions on crucial medical emergencies, including CPR, snakebite treatment, and infectious diseases. The event also covered topics on drug and alcohol abuse, aiming to raise awareness and educate the community on these important issues.
ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTS GUIDANCE SESSION AND PRE-MEDICAL DRIVE FOR AGNIVEER ASPIRANTS/ CET QUALIFIERS AT KANGVAI, CHURACHANDPUR DISTRICT
In continuation of plethora of efforts to engage the local youth and secure their future, Assam Rifles organized a Guidance Session on various facets of medical and physical assessment tests followed by a pre-medical drive for local youth who have cleared the Common Entrance Test (CET) of the Agniveer Entry Scheme, at Kangvai, Churachandpur District (Manipur).
The session was attended by 21 young individuals. These individuals were trained by the Assam Rifles for the Entrance Test from 20 February 2024 to 19 April 2024 at Assam Rifles camp, Kangvai for excellence and wellness in Churachandpur District (Manipur).
Assam Rifles will be conducting an eight week training program for all these young Agniveer aspirants to prepare them for the Recruitment Rallies scheduled in the months of August and September 2024. The pre-medical tests drive was also conducted aimed to assess the medical conditions of the individuals and to guide them to maintain their physical fitness in the run up for the selection tests.
The Assam Rifles remains committed to support the youth in their journey towards nation building.
ASSAM RIFLES ORGANISES WELFARE ASSOCIATION AND REHABILITATION BOARD (WARB) MEETING AT MODI, CHANDEL, MANIPUR
Assam Rifles organised the quarterly “Welfare Association and Rehabilitation Board (WARB)” meeting at Modi, Chandel on 15 June 2024.
Ex-servicemen and Veer Naris of Assam Rifles were invited for the meeting wherein their grievances pertaining to pension and other emoluments were addressed followed by requisite documentation and health checkup by CMO and RMO.
Ten Ex-Servicemen and Veer Naris were felicitated for their extraordinary service to the nation and lunch was organised in their honour. The meeting ended in elated spirits with a pledge for keeping in touch and provide all assistance by the Force.
ASSAM RIFLES DONATES BLOOD ON WORLD BLOOD DONOR DAY
In an act of selflessness and dedication to humanity, the Assam Rifles have embraced the noble cause of blood donation, extending their commitment to protect and serve into the healthcare domain. On World Blood Donor Day, 18 troops from the Assam Rifles donated blood at RIMS Hospital.
The troops of Assam Rifles have selflessly stepped forward to donate the gift of life. This initiative is profoundly significant, as it not only supports the well-being of military personnel but also strengthens the bond between the armed forces and the communities they serve.
Assam Rifles remains dedicated to serving the people of North East and will continue to work for the betterment of life, providing assistance and support wherever possible, living upto the motto of “Friends of the North East”.
ASSAM RIFLES ORGANISES MASS YOGA DEMONSTRATION IN MANIPUR
In a wholesome display of community engagement and promotion of holistic wellness, the Assam Rifles successfully organized a grand event to celebrate International Yoga Day. On 15 June 2024, a mass yoga session was held at Mantripukhri, Keithelmanbi, and all Company Operating Bases. The event aimed to foster physical fitness, mental well-being, and spiritual harmony among the residents. 13 Officers, 68 Junior Commissioned Officers, 524 Other Ranks, 45 families, and 32 children enthusiastically participated in the event.
The International Yoga Day event commenced early in the morning at all Company Operating Bases. The atmosphere was vibrant and energetic, with participants keen to learn and practice various yoga postures and techniques. Professional yoga instructors led the session, ensuring participants received proper guidance on different asanas (yoga postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), and meditation techniques. Special attention was given to beginners, with simplified versions of the asanas being demonstrated to accommodate all levels of fitness and experience.
At Ukhrul, Assam Rifles conducted a drawing competition under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Life” at Holy Spirit High School, Nungbi Knu Village on 14 June 2024. The event aimed to foster creativity and spread awareness about the benefits of yoga in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The competition received an overwhelming response from more than 50 budding artists eager to showcase their talent. Students illustrated the significance of yoga in enhancing physical, mental, and emotional well-being, capturing the essence of balance, harmony, and inner peace.
In Kamjong District, Assam Rifles organized the “Celebration of 10th World Yoga Day” at Aishi COB on 14 June 2024. Assam Rifles hosted the event to strengthen bonds, promote unity, and cultivate goodwill among the local population. The Company Commander, along with local residents and school children, performed yoga for about 40 minutes, underscoring the Assam Rifles’ dedication to building faith and fellowship within the community.
Following the yoga session, the Company Commander engaged in meaningful interactions with locals, discussing community issues and fostering mutual understanding. Approximately 41 locals, including 25 school children, participated in the event, which also included tea and breakfast. Local villagers expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the efforts of Assam Rifles, recognizing the organization’s dedication to their safety and well-being.
