Assam Rifles paid tribute to Late Lance Naik Hanuman Ram at Battalion Headquarters on 17 June 2024.
Born on 15 September 1963 in Village Urai, Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, L/Nk Hanuman Ram aspired to serve the Nation and joined 3 Assam Rifles on 3 February 1983. On 17 June 1995, while part of a Quick Reaction Team comprising one JCO and 15 OR, L/Nk Hanuman Ram was involved in a search operation based on credible intelligence regarding the presence of militants in a house. Serving as Scout No. 1 during the operation, he exhibited exceptional bravery.
During the room intervention, L/Nk Hanuman Ram opened the door, and the team came under heavy fire from HM militants. Without regard for his personal safety, L/Nk Hanuman Ram swiftly moved across the room and engaged the firing militant. Despite sustaining gunshot wounds during the intense encounter, he continued to fight valiantly before succumbing to his injuries, making the ultimate sacrifice for the Nation.
Assam Rifles conducted a wreath-laying ceremony and paid homage to its braveheart, honouring his selfless and gallant actions in the line of duty. The ceremony served as a poignant reminder of the unwavering commitment of Assam Rifles to uphold the security and integrity of the nation.
