Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Dr. M Ampareen Lyngdoh on Wednesday handed over the Award to the Best Performing TREYSEFA certificates to all those trainees who have completed their training.
‘Even though I did not come from an Agriculture background but for the last one year after taking charge of the department, I have been getting the ideas about how this department actually works’, said Dr Ampareen Lyngdoh. The headline in the newspapers speaks about the inflation of vegetables in the market around us. We need to strengthen the department and adopt different policies. As the State we need to see why the vegetables that we produce can’t be made into the locally available products which we can sell and consume in our State itself, she added.
She mooted the need for the youth of the State to venture out into farming as in today’s competitive world not everyone can be promised a government job. She further urged upon the trainees to impart the knowledge they have gained during the training sessions to others.
During the day, Dr M Ampareen Lyngdoh alongwith Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Isawanda Laloo felicitated and handed over the Seed Money to the 2nd Batch female TREYSEFA 2023-2024. The dignitaries also released the booklet on Basic Agriculture Training Centre (BATC), Upper Shillong
