West Bengal was established on 20 June 1947. But full statehood was achieved on 26 January 1950. This day is very special and important for the citizens of West Bengal. Great men contributed a lot in building the state of West Bengal. But these days
“WHAT BENGAL THINKS TO-DAY, INDIA THINKS TOMORROW” – is far from truth now and West Bengal to-day is lagging far behind many other states in India . Big industries have stopped coming here after TATAs had to leave the state keeping their dream project at Singur abandoned in 2008.
So, let the political leaders take a pledge on the West Bengal Day to fight together for development of the state and regain the lost glory of Bengal in the days ahead.
“WHAT BENGAL THINK TODAY, INDIA THINK TOMORROW.”
The quote was accurate for situations few decades back, when Bengal boasted dozens of high-thinkers, pioneers of education, literature and poetry, fought against the British valiantly. Scores of writers, thinkers, philosophers and scientists like JC Bose, guided the nation. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose gave a new dimension to the Freedom Struggle. They all showed the bright future not only to the people of Bengal, but all of INDIA. Rabindranath Tagore’s words are still revered.
BUT WHERE ARE THE PROGENY OF THOSE PEOPLE NOW?
Not many remember Bagha Jatin, Kshudiram Bose and Master da Surya Sen etc.
Ramakrishna, Swami Vivekanand, Dayanand Sarasvati and scores of othes, not only guided Indians but the entire world.
In contrast, now we see petty politicians and face their idiosyncrasies in the state. The rich culture has given way to violence, strife and religious riots.
I SINCERELY ASK, WHERE ARE THE PROGENIES OF THE PREVIOUS GENERATIONS ? ARE THEY STILL IN BENGAL OR LEFT IN FRUSTRATION?
