Assam Rifles under the aegis HQ IGAR(S) organised a wreath laying ceremony in honour of Capt Allahnoor Kathat, KC(P) who made the ultimate sacrifice displaying unwavering courage and dedication to duty despite facing overwhelming odds in counter insurgency operation in Sateek, Aizawl district, Mizoram on 03 July 1967.


On 03 July 1967, a team under command of Capt Allahnoor Kathat was leading the operation in the Sialsuk area following information about hiding MNF cadres. In the encounter, one MNF cadre was killed and another cadre was wounded and arms and ammunition were also recovered. Capt Allahnoor Kathat, bravely encountered the insurgents disregarding personal safety. He got wounded in the encounter and made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. For his bravery and sacrifice, Capt Allabnoor Kathat was awarded Kirti Chakra (Posthumous).

The ceremony commenced with the wreath laying by Commandant of the unit and exhorted all ranks narrating the story of the braveheart to infuse a sense of pride and honour in the force.

A total of 5 Officers, 15 Junior Commissioned Officers and 105 Other Ranks paid tribute by laying wreaths & honouring the martyr with Guard of Honour.
