From being a pillar of strength to her husband, loving mother to her kids, a companion to her friends and a professional – one has seen army wives step into myriad roles.

As part of women empowerment, Eastern Command Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) celebrated Asmita Purba 2024 at Fort William, Kolkata . Mrs Gauri Tiwari, Regional President AWWA, Eastern Command appreciated the inspiring real- life experiences of storytellers , a testimony to their courage and determination, also felicitating them for their outstanding contribution and inspirational journey.

AWWA (Army Wives Welfare Organisation) is an NGO run by wives of Army personnel.It is an association that works for the welfare of the spouses, children and dependents of Army personnel. It is aptly called the invisible hand that shapes the punch of the Indian Army. The association was officially registered as a Welfare Society with the Registrar of Societies, Delhi Administration on 23 August 1966. Since its inception AWWA has grown in its scope and reach and today it stands proud as one of the largest NGOs in India.
