The documentary ‘Fagu Khele Karunamay’ is a testament to the collaborative efforts of many talented individuals. It has been chosen as an Official Selection for the 10th International Film Festival Shimla.
The film, which focuses on the Holi festival of Barpeta, was directed by acclaimed film critic and short film-maker Utpal Datta and produced by Prof Bandana Dutta. Dipjyoti Deka handled the cinematography, while renowned singer and music director Tarali Sarma provided the narration, voice-over, and music composition. The film was edited by Raktim Ranjan Basumatary.
The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at Assam Down Town University presents the film.
Several departments of Assam down town University recorded audio-video data for research projects and field studies, leading to the creation of documentary films.
The university has produced documentaries on Sattriya Ojapali of Majuli, Devdasi dance, and Naam performed by women and a few others topics.
These research documentaries are preserved in the university library and available for viewing by interested visitors. Professor Bandana Dutta explained that the primary purpose of these efforts is to research and preserve the endangered cultural resources of Assam.
