Indian boxer Nishant Dev faced a tough defeat in the men’s 71kg quarterfinals at the Paris 2024 Olympics, losing to Mexico’s Marco Verde by a split decision (4-1).
Despite starting strong and leading after the first round, Nishant struggled in the subsequent rounds as Verde intensified his attack, ultimately securing the victory. This match marked Nishant’s Olympic debut, following his success as a bronze medallist at the 2023 World Championships.
His performance has garnered admiration, showcasing his potential as a future star in boxing despite the loss.
