Assam Rifles at Shangshak in Ukhrul district of Manipur resuscitated a snake bite victim on 04 August 2024.
On August 4, 2024, Mrs. Ngalahon Rephung was on her way to the village church in Shangshak for evening mass when she was bitten by a snake. The village pastor promptly brought her to the Assam Rifles Unit hospital. The medical team provided the necessary first aid. This swift response by both the pastor and the medical staff ensured Mrs. Rephung’s safety, highlighting the community’s strong support system and the importance of immediate medical care.
The local residents and the village authorities including the pastor of the village church had expressed their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation towards Assam Rifles for providing them with the much required medical aid.
*ASSAM RIFLES ORGANISED A FRIENDLY VOLLEYBALL MATCH FOR LOCAL YOUTH*
Assam Rifles standing firm to its credo of ‘Sentinels of The North East’ organised a friendly volleyball match for local youth at Komlakhang village, Imphal west District, Manipur on 05 August 2024.
A total of 13 players from neighbouring villages participated in the match. The match was organised to inspire youth to adopt healthy lifestyle. The event was also aimed at identifying local talent to motivate them to join Assam Rifles.
The local youth appreciated the initiative and expressed their deep appreciation to the Assam Rifles.
ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTED MEDICAL CAMP FOR LOCAL VILLAGERS IN MANIPUR
Demonstrating a strong commitment to humanitarian aid, the Assam Rifles organized a medical camp at Sadu Chiru, Ichum kom and Sajjal kuki Villages on 04 Aug 24 to support local Villagers and individuals affected by the recent ethnic clashes in Manipur. This significant initiative provided essential medical services to a total of 183 People including elderly individuals, women, and children.
Medical professionals ensured that each patient received thorough care, addressing a range of health concerns and providing much-needed relief to local populace.
The local residents expressed profound gratitude for the medical camp, recognizing the vital support it provided during these challenging times.
ASSAM RIFLES HOSTS COMMUNITY DIALOGUE
In a significant outreach initiative, organised a community interaction event at Chassad. The gathering brought together 42 influential leaders, including pastors, church members representing various border villages.
The event provided a platform for a candid exchange of ideas on critical issues impacting the region. Discussions focused on security challenges, peace efforts, and trade dynamics in border villages. The participants also addressed the ethnic violence in Manipur and the turmoil in Myanmar’s border regions. The dialogue centered on strategies for ensuring lasting peace in Kamjong and the surrounding areas.
A highlight of the interaction was the discussion on the civic action programs undertaken by Assam Rifles in the region. These initiatives, aimed at improving the livelihoods and living standards of the local population, include upcoming development projects set to be launched and completed in the coming months. Following the discussions, attendees enjoyed a community lunch.
Local pastors and church members expressed their gratitude to Assam Rifles for organizing such events, acknowledging the respect and honor bestowed upon them. They pledged their full support towards maintaining peace and tranquility in the region, particularly in curbing illegal trade, drug trafficking, smuggling and the movement of contraband items in the border villages, following the suspension of the Free Movement Regime (FMR).
