Assam Rifles, on 07 August 2024 organised Mass Tree Plantation Drive in association with the village authorities and localites of Sorde village in Kamjong district of Manipur.
The event was organised as a part of the environment friendly intiatives being undertaken by the Assam Rifles. The state of Manipur is blessed with abundant natural resources and has got good forest cover, however the illegal trade of natural resources especially forest produce like timber had led to large scale deforestation and environmental degradation. This initiative planned to create awareness amongst the locals regarding this issue.
A total of 42 locals including 05 representatives from Sorde village council and 21 students from the Sorde High School actively participated in the Mass Tree Plantation Drive organised by the Assam Rifles.
The event started with a welcome note wherein the need for protection of the natural resources especially the forest was emphasised. Thereafter a total of 1250 saplings were planted during the drive along the Shangshak-Kasong road which is a part of the State Highway 102A.
The locals including the village authorities and school students expressed their appreciation towards Assam Rifles for enlightening them about the importance of environment protection and nature conservation. They also promised that they will strive hard to protect the inherent natural resources present in their localites and assured the Assam Rifles personnel that they will extend their wholehearted support to the Security Forces in future.
ASSAM RIFLES RENDERED HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE TO INTERNALLY DISPLACED PEOPLE (IDPs) IN MANIPUR
The Assam Rifles rendered humanitarian assistance to internally displaced people at relief camp at Laphupat Tera village, Imphal West District on 06 August 2024.
This initiative aimed to distribute the basic necessities to include rice, sugar, milk, refined oil, salt and eggs to Internally Displaced People residing in the relief camp, promoting mutual trust, peace, and harmony in the region. The event benefitted 97 IDPs to include, 39 children, 34 women and 24 men.

Understanding the fact that having the right learning aids can make a significant difference in the classroom, Assam Rifles provisioned a variety of items such as notebooks, pencils, erasers, and rulers to ensure that students and teachers are well-equipped for a productive academic year.
Assam Rifles aims at making a positive impact by helping to alleviate some of the financial burden that schools and families face, enabling students the access to the resources they need to thrive academically.
The distribution of notebooks and stationary was warmly appreciated by the school and village authorities.
