Under BSF South Bengal Frontier, Company Commanders of Border Out Posts Chauhatia Singamora and Mamabhagina of 68th Battalion BSF deployed on Indo-Bangladesh border at Sector Headquarters Krishnanagar and Border Out Posts Gadhina, Atrosia, Ashirdah, Baliashisha, Baishnabnagar, Charmeghna and DMC of 86th, 73th, 146th and 149th Battalion BSF of Sector Headquarters Berhampur organized village coordination meetings in border villages of Dist Nadia and Murshidabad of West Bengal falling in their respective areas of responsibility. Panchayat Pradhan, Panchayat members and villagers participated in these meetings organized by BSF.
The objective of these meetings is to strengthen the relationship between BSF and local communities. In these meetings, BSF Company Commanders discussed the current situation in Bangladesh and stressed the need for cooperation from the villagers in maintaining security and preventing illegal activities. The officers explained how local residents can contribute significantly in border security by remaining vigilant and reporting any suspicious activity and discussions were held focusing on implementation of Section 144 of CrPC during night hours on International Border.
The key points discussed during the meeting included banning unnecessary civilian movement on the embankment to prevent any possible security breach. BSF also informed the villagers that fishing in the border area during night hours is strictly prohibited as it poses a threat to national security.

Arya, DIG, Public Relations Officer of BSF, South Bengal Frontier said that this initiative of 68th, 86th, 73th, 146th and 149th Battalions of BSF reflects their continuous efforts to win the hearts and minds of the border people, thereby promoting a spirit of mutual trust and cooperation for national security and community welfare. He also informed that the BSF has increased security along the border. Apart from guarding the border, they are raising awareness among the border villagers about the current situation in Bangladesh. The BSF is also creating awareness among the residents of these border villages.
