Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), Ramnagar of BSF South Frontier organised an impressive awareness programme on prevention of human trafficking in collaboration with Shrima Mahila Samity NGO and students of Bhajanghat High School. The programme was held at Bhajanghat High School, District Nadia, in the area of responsibility of Border Outpost Ramnagar of 8 Battalion under BSF South Bengal Frontier.
The programme began with a comprehensive lecture delivered by the team members of AHTU Ramnagar of BSF along with representatives of Shrima Mahila Samity NGO. The main objective of the lecture was to educate the attendees on important issues related to human trafficking including child marriage, child abuse, child labour, gender discrimination and potential dangers associated with social media. The speakers emphasised on the importance of awareness and proactive measures to prevent human trafficking.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the school community and other dignitaries with a total of 153 attendees including 148 students (70 boys and 78 girls). The aim of the event was to empower the students and the local community with knowledge and tools to effectively combat human trafficking.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri A.K Arya, DIG, Public Relations Officer of BSF South Bengal Frontier said that the initiative of BSF, AHTU Team Ramnagar in collaboration with Shrima Mahila Samity NGO underlines the commitment of BSF and its partners to protect vulnerable populations and promote a safe society. The awareness programme is an important step towards the elimination of human trafficking and protection of human rights in the region.
