On the basis of reliable information, the vigilant soldiers of Border Outpost Ranghat, 68th Battalion under South Bengal Frontier seized 400 pieces of Menotripin injection, 500 pieces of Cetrorelix Acetate injection, 300 pieces of Urofollitropin injection, 10 packets of Clear Probe and 2 packets of Chilpack salt medicines along with 100 bottles of Phensedyl from their area of responsibility. The total value of the seized medicines and Phensedyl is Rs 22,69,498/-.
According to the information, on August 25, a special information was given by the BSF Intelligence Department to the soldiers of Border Outpost Ranghat about the possible smuggling of medicines. On receiving the information, all the jawans and patrolling parties were alerted. At around 0430 hrs, 02 to 03 smugglers were seen walking near the border. On being challenged by the BSF jawans, the smugglers panicked and fled from the spot taking advantage of the tall bushes. While fleeing, the smugglers threw 02 sacks there. The jawans recovered the sacks from the spot.
Subsequently, 400 pieces of Menotripin injection, 500 pieces of Cetrorelix acetate injection, 300 pieces of Urofollitropin injection, 10 packets of Clear Probe and 2 packets of Chilpack salt medicines along with 100 bottles of Phensedyl were seized.
The seized items were handed over to Police Station Bagdah for further legal action.
BSF, South Bengal Frontier spokesperson A K Arya, DIG informed that the Border Security Force is taking strict measures to prevent smuggling on the Indo-Bangladesh border. He said in strong words that BSF jawans are fully committed to stop smuggling from their area of responsibility and they will not allow smuggling from their area under any circumstances.
