Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), Ghojadanga and (AHTU) Ramnagar of BSF South Bengal Frontier in collaboration with Shrima Mahila Samiti NGO organised an impressive awareness programme on prevention of human trafficking in collaboration with the students of Katiahat BKAB Girls High School and Helancha High School. The programme was organised in the areas of responsibility of Border Outposts Rangaghat and Kajuri of 102nd Battalion and 08th Battalion under BSF South Bengal Frontier.
The programme started with a comprehensive lecture delivered by the team members of AHTU Ramnagar and Ghojadanga of BSF and representatives of Shrima Mahila Samiti NGO. The main objective of the lecture was to educate the attendees on important issues related to human trafficking including child marriage, child abuse, child labour, gender discrimination and potential dangers associated with social media. The speakers emphasised on the importance of awareness and proactive measures to prevent human trafficking.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the school community and other dignitaries, with a total of 176 students from Katiahat BKAB Girls High School and 216 students from Helencha High School (126 boys, 90 girls). The event was aimed at empowering students and the local community with knowledge and tools to effectively combat human trafficking.
Speaking on the occasion, Public Relations Officer of BSF South Bengal Frontier said that the initiative of BSF, AHTU Team Ramnagar in collaboration with Shrima Mahila Samiti NGO underlines the commitment of BSF and its partners to protect vulnerable populations and promote a safer society. The awareness programme is an important step towards the elimination of human trafficking and protection of human rights in the region.
