The Population-Based Cancer Registry (PBCR) of Kamrup District in association with the National Centre for Disease Informatics and Research (NCDIR), Bengaluru organized a regional workshop on “Role of Cancer Registry in Cancer Control” at Dr.B Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI), Guwahati on 30th August 2024.
Dr.B C Goswami, Clinical Director of Comprehensive Cancer Centre, Healthcity Hospital and former Director of State Cancer Institute attended as the Chief Guest of the workshop. The welcome address was delivered by Dr.Prashant Mathur, Director of NCDIR. Dr.B B Borthakur, Director of BBCI delivered the keynote speech. The workshop was attended by doctors and registry staff from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Guwahati, and the State Cancer Institute. The other participants for the workshop were staff from various diagnostic centers and hospitals of Kamrup District, which are sources of registration for the PBCR-Kamrup under NCDIR.
Dr. D Barman, Deputy Director (Academics) and Principal Investigator, PBCR-Kamrup spoke on the burden of cancer in northeast India. The faculties for the workshop were Dr.T Rahman, Professor of Head & Neck Surgery, and Dr.Manigreeva Krishnatreya, Department of Cancer Registry and Epidemiology, both from BBCI. Satish Kumar and Priyanka Das were the speakers from the NCDIR. A total of 60 delegates attended the workshop.
